A Non-Profit Organization.

--Profile--

Vision

Our Vision is to embark on projects that will improve the standard living of humanity, and to provide for economic and health support services for the communities of Nigeria.

Mission

Our mission is to impact on rural communities with activities that will better the lot of ghetto dwellers. Our activities are geared towards developing human beings and developing communities through projects that are targeted at vulnerable groups in the communities. In fact that is the selling point of Society for Community Care. When we say vulnerable groups, we are looking at the women, youths and children, especially those in very hard and difficult conditions. For one example, HIV/AIDS information, including free voluntary counseling and testing, and establishment of health care centers and road networking. Another example would be skill acquisition programs and poverty alleviation schemes, and developing the necessary infrastructures to enable them to realize their potential and take advantage of whatever opportunity to become economically self sufficient.

Aims & Objectives

Society for Community Care (S.C.C.) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization formed by like-minded persons who are interested in the welfare of mankind, especially the less privileged, the rural community dwellers, the youth and the needy in the society. The members of the organization decided to pull together their various talents, gifts, resources and energy to tackle the monstrous problems of poverty, ignorance, disease, neglect, illiteracy, etc. which have brought untold hardship to our youths and rural communities.

These people are members of the communities who are unable to help themselves. Such persons do not have access to hospital facilities, water or other basic necessities of life. Most of them live in a very poor and unhygienic environment. We also have women who lack access to the things that will help them improve themselves economically because of the patriarchal system, so our programs are aimed at uplifting such women and sensitizing them, so that they will be able to realize their potentials and take advantage of whatever opportunity they can. And when you look at the issue of HIV/AIDS, women and youths are greatly affected. Economically these groups don't have what it takes to tackle this terrible disease, so they are always at the receiving end.

We use skill acquisition programs and poverty alleviation schemes as a way of managing the problem of sexually transmitted diseases among teenage girls. What we do is provide these young women with skills believing that when they are economically empowered, they will be able to avoid some of the risky sexual behaviors that predispose them to HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections.

We reach out to the communities with activities that touch their lives. We have a clinic that we run in-house for members of the communities that cannot afford the cost of conventional clinics who can come and are treated free of charge. We also run a mobile clinic, and we provide youth centers in some communities with this care. We empower these youths.
